INSIDE THE LAB: A Night of Fog, Concrete, and Citrus in Glasgow
Outside, the typical Glasgow rain lashed against the red brick facade of the Hidden Lane warehouse in Finnieston. Inside, however, the air was vibrating with the smell of freezing cold mandarin and warm leather.
Last night, Scent Lab 33 hosted "The Invisible Architecture," an immersive launch event for our new Original Collection. We didn't want a "Launch Party" with champagne and small talk. We wanted a sensory experiment.
For those who couldn't secure a ticket to the sold-out event, here is a detailed walkthrough of the night.
/// ZONE 1: THE CRYO-CHAMBERUpon entering, guests were handed heavy thermal coats and guided into a sealed, glass-walled room. The temperature inside was controlled at exactly -5°C.
We used industrial fog machines to pump the scent of Frozen Mandarin Peel into the air. The cold temperature prevented the citrus molecules from evaporating quickly, creating a "suspended" scent cloud.
The main hall was dominated by a brutalist sculpture made of raw Scottish slate and wet basalt stone. Water trickled down the stones, collecting in a dark pool at the base.
This was the home of Mineral Citrus Rock. The scent of wet stone, flint, and grapefruit peel emanated from the sculpture itself. There were no diffusers visible; the rock itself seemed to breathe the fragrance.
"Perfume is usually invisible. Tonight, Scent Lab 33 made it solid."/// ZONE 3: THE DARK ROOM
In the back of the warehouse, behind heavy velvet curtains, lay the "Dark Room." The lighting shifted from cool blue to deep amber. The air was thick and warm.
Here, we showcased Bitter Orange Leather. The room was furnished with vintage leather armchairs and smelled of smoke, burnt orange, and spices. It was the "After-Party" vibe—seductive, intimate, and powerful.
The Verdict
Glasgow is a city of contrast—industrial grit meeting artistic innovation. It was the perfect backdrop for Scent Lab 33.
We proved that our Original R&D Collection is not just about "smelling nice." It is about engineering an emotion. From the shock of the ice room to the comfort of the leather room, scent is a journey.
The installation has been dismantled, but the scents remain.
