🌊 The Inspiration: The Maquis
The "Maquis" is the dense, aromatic scrubland that grows along the Mediterranean coast. Coastal Mastic Shrub is a dry, savory, and salty interpretation of the Éclat de Vert profile. It focuses on the Lentisque (Mastic) bush growing on a cliff edge, sprayed by the sea. It is aromatic, herbal, and invigorating.
🧪 The Olfactory Architecture: Salt and Resin
The scent opens with Sea Salt and Rosemary. It is savory and bracing. The heart is a massive dose of Lentisque Absolute—green, piney, and woody. The base is Driftwood and Ambroxan. It smells like sun-baked skin and dried herbs.
🌿 Raw Material Sourcing: The Corsican Bush
-
Lentisque (Mastic) Oil: Sourced from wild-harvested bushes in Corsica. It has a unique "green carrot" and pine nuance.
-
Sea Salt Accord: A mineral blend that mimics the smell of drying ocean water.
🧠 The Scent Psychology: Freedom and Escape
Marine and herbal scents evoke wide-open spaces. Coastal Mastic Shrub is an escape button. It reduces claustrophobia and stress, transporting the wearer to a wild coastline. It projects an image of adventure and resilience.
🇬🇧 The London Lab Technology
We used Salt-Air Synthesis. Creating a salt note that isn't metallic is difficult. We balanced mineral notes with salicylates (solar molecules) to create a "Warm Salt" effect that blends perfectly with the green mastic.
✨ The Application Ritual
When to wear: Hiking, sailing, beach days, or when feeling trapped in the office.
Where to spray: Arms and neck.
Style pairing: Linen shirts, boat shoes, khaki shorts, and windblown hair.
💭 From the Perfumer's Diary
